LAND
Located next to the school property, on 7.5 acres of land, the house is totally
private.
A large deck crosses the front of the house, overlooking
the garden and seasonal pond. Help yourself to the plums, apples, blueberries,
fresh herbs, huckleberries, blackberries or filbert nuts
if you're here at harvest time. Sit in comfortable custom made adirondack
chairs and listen to the birds sing.
If you like outdoor cooking,
a propane B.B.Q. is provided.

Tall cedars, firs and maples grace the forested acreage. A path winds through our forest to the neighboring elementary school - a great place to play with a ball diamond, soccer field, kids jungle gym, volleyball area and outdoor basketball court. In the other direction, our path joins a network of paths to Tribune Bay Provincial Park. In the front, perpendicular to Central Road, the Community path goes in either direction, toward the Coop Store or alternatively towards the Community Hall.
The front yard is fenced, there's an make-shift badminton court, full horseshoe pitch, and seasonal fire pit. The property is blessed with good water - there is a deep well, and storage reservoir - but as with other island land owners we do request you use our island water resources wisely, Hornby is designated as a "water conservation area".

On Hornby Island there aren't any poisonous snakes or insects, no predatory animals. You won't see any bears or cougars here. Our children play outside safely. We enjoy our wild life by:
- viewing the whales when they swim up the channel
- seeking out the sealions on the offshore rocks
- watching the deer peacefully graze in our yards
- tracking the graceful eagles as they soar overhead
- or going to the local Pub for a pint!
